NASCAR Fines Jeff Gordon
Jeff Gordon lost his head after a heated race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday. Two days later, he suffered the consequences.
NASCAR fined Gordon $10,000 and placed him on probation for his involvement in an altercation on pit road shortly after the completion of Sunday's Nextel Cup Food City 500.
A four-time series champion, Gordon will be on probation until August 30.
The sanctioning stems from an incident involving points leader Matt Kenseth, who tapped Gordon's Chevrolet Monte Carlo on the final lap Sunday, sending Gordon into a spin and costing him a possible top-five finish.
Kenseth tried to apologize to Gordon after the race but was angrily shoved away.
