Tony Stewart gets Win at the Brickyard.

INDIANAPOLIS - Victory for Tony Stewart at Indianapolis on Sunday was just as sweet as he thought it would be.

"This is one of those days, I don't want it to end," Stewart said. "I don't want to see the sun set. It's definitely the greatest day of my life, professionally and personally up to this point."

The native Hoosier's lifelong quest to win a race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway ended with Stewart finally getting his "Holy Grail," and he made sure to draw out the celebration as long as he could while the partisan crowd roared with approval.

As the partisan crowd screamed "Tony! Tony! Tony!" a beaming Stewart said, "You dream about something for so long, you become consumed by it. To finally get to see what it was like coming down that main straightaway seeing the checkered flags was just incredible."

The 34-year-old Stewart, who came to NASCAR in 1999 from the Indy Racing League, where he was a champion, grew up coveting a victory at the historic track on the west side of Indianapolis.

From one native Hoosier to another, good job Tony!

Elliott Sadler has pole for Allstate 400 at the Brickyard

INDIANAPOLIS - Sadler was the fastest of 52 qualifiers with a lap at 184.116 miles per hour in a Ford Taurus. Jeremy Mayfield joins Sadler in the front row with a lap of 183.053 mph in his Dodge Charger.

"I want to try to put all the pieces together and kiss those bricks," Sadler said. "Winning here at the Brickyard is like winning the Daytona 500 - it makes or breaks a career. I really believe that deep down inside."

Defending champion Gordon will start seventh in a Chevrolet. He is attempting to become the first driver with five victories on this 2 1/2-mile oval. Dale Earnhardt Jr., who is 15th in the standings and, like Gordon, is desperately trying to qualify for the 10-race "Chase for the Championship," - will start 27th in a Chevrolet.
