Golden Corral 500 Report Card

As we continue to refine our computer models, we slowly improve our forecasting skills. Such was the case this week as identified 4 of the top seven. (Edwards finished 1st / predicted 7th, Johnson 2nd / 3rd, Martin 4th / 5th, and Kahne 5th / 1st). Note that one of our models did predict Carl Edwards to win but we junked that one because of lack of previous track history.

We also nailed pole sitter Ryan Newman's 14th place finish. The remaining results were somewhat mixed. Perhaps hurting our numbers a little was the fact that three more of our top 10 ( Labonte 2nd, Jeff Gordon 4th, and Hamilton Jr. 9th) never made it more than 266 laps.

As we have said before, such is the danger of trying to predict such an unpredictable sport. With an off week next weekend, we'll have a little more time to hopefully make things better.

For those of you who have asked where the Crew Chief's predictions were this week, she has asked me to extend her apologies as she has been tied up with a special activity and simply didn't have the opportunity to perform her usual detailed analysis. She has, however, promised to be back for the next race.
