12 Days and Counting

With only 12 days left to the start of the 2005 Nextel Cup, here are a few things to look ahead to.

Actor Matthew McConaughey ("The Wedding Planner", "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days") has been named the Grand Marshall for this year's Daytona 500 and will give the "Drivers, Start Your Engines" command.

Also, the new 2005 Chevy Corvette will be the Pace Car at Daytona this year. With a race track top speed of 186 mph, it is virtually identical to the production model. Painted millennium yellow, the Corvette will have a black racing stripe centered across the hood, roof, and trunk, along with the Daytona 500 logo on each door.
